If you have an old wedding dress that belonged to a relative, this is a way to include it in your wedding accessories. Materials Needed: ¼ yard, or 9”x18” fabric, satin or other suitable fabric 8 ounces of Fiberfill 2 yards ribbon, ¼” wide Thread to match fabric Fabric Glue Options: ¼ yard or 9”x18” lace (for pillow overlay) 1 yard each, two colors for ¼” wide ribbon Silk flower head, 2”-3”diameter, or small lace or crocheted doily Directions: 1. Pillow pieces should be cut on the “straight” of the fabric. (“Straight” means the crossing threads of the fabric are perpendicular to each other.) Fold the fabric into a 9”x 9” square. Cut an 8”x 8” square out of two layers of fabric. (An 8”x 8” paper pattern may be cut and pinned onto the fabric. If using a lace overlay, fold lace into a 9”x 9” square and cut out an 8”x 8” square from the two layers of lace. There are now two 8”x 8” squares of fabric (and lace). 2. If not using lace overlay, go to 3. If using a lace overlay, pin wrong side of one 8”x 8” lace to right side of one 8”x 8” fabric. Machine stitch lace and fabric to each other about 1/8” in from edge, along all four edges. Repeat for remaining lace and fabric. 3. Place right sides (lace) together, pin edges so they are even. Machine stitch ½” in from the edge, along four sides leaving about 3” open along one side (for inserting Fiberfill). 4. Clip corners on the diagonal, about ¼” from stitching. Turn the right side (lace) out. 5. Stuff Fiberfill into the pillow, through opening. The eraser end of a pencil may be used to distribute the Fiberfill evenly in to pillow. 6. When the pillow is stuffed sufficiently, fold under edges of opening, pin and close by hand stitching. 7. Cut ribbon in half, if using one color. With the two 1 yard pieces together, tie them around the center of the pillow. Tie streamers twice to form a knot. Trim ribbon ends to desired length. Secure knot at center with a dab of fabric glue. Streamers will be used to tie rings. 8. Options: a silk flower head may be glued over the knot of the ribbon for more decoration. Or, a small lace or crocheted doily may be glued to the center of the pillow before the ribbon is tied on.
